07 Jun Coming Soon: Neonatal Care Act, Protection from Redundancy Act and the Carer’s Leave Act 2023

Each Act and implementation dates are yet to be specified but are likely to be from 2024, and into 2025, for some. These new laws introduce the following changes:

  • 12 weeks paid neonatal care leave for employees whose children are in neonatal care.
  • Unpaid carers entitled to a week’s flexible unpaid leave, for employees caring for dependants with long-term care needs.
  • Protection from redundancy for pregnant women and new parents, extending the present redundancy protections to pregnancy and for a period after return to work takes place.
